Chair: Marissa Sibal, 2010

Howdy! My name is Marissa Sibal, I am a senior, finance major from Sugar Land, Texas but more importantly I am a proud member of the Fighting Texas Aggie Class of 2010...A-WHOOP! And even more importantly than that I am the proud chairperson for Traditions Council 2009-2010! I have been on Traditions Council for 2 years and could not be more excited to serve as chair during my 3rd year. I am a first generation Aggie and this University quite literally had me at Howdy! I really do think there is something so special here not only because of the traditions, but because of the Aggie family who no matter thick or thin stand behind each other and stand behind the traditions that set this university apart! I LOVE traditions, LOVE the Aggie Family and that's why I joined Traditions Council and I can't think of any other organization that has served my two passions so well!

Vice Chair: Mason Etheredge, 2010

Howdy Ags! My name is Mason Etheredge and I will be serving as the Vice Chair for Traditions Council this year. I'm a senior Agribusiness major from Helotes, Texas and a proud member of the Fightin' Texas Aggie Class of 2010! Whoop! I am a second generation Aggie and I never dreamed of attending any other university. I've always known that Aggieland was the place for me, but I didn't realized how special this place was until i experienced all of the traditions first hand. I have participated in multiple other organizations on campus, but there is no organization at Texas A&M like Traditions Council. I have an extremely strong passion for A&M, its traditions, its history, and Traditions Council. Applying for Traditions Council could very well be the most rewarding thing you do during your college career... I know it was for me.

Campus Relations Sub-Chair: Lesa Teer, 2011

Howdy!  My name is Lesa Teer, I am an Agricultural Communications and Journalism major from Lufkin, Texas and a proud member of the Fightin' Texas Aggie Class of 2011!  I've bled maroon for as long as I can remember; there is something about Texas A&M and the Spirit of Aggieland that sends chills down my spine and always puts a smile on my face.  I joined Traditions Council because it is our traditions that made me fall in love with this place.  Our traditions set us apart from the rest, make us the Aggie Family, and give us a link to the past so that we never forget where we came from and how we got here.  I want nothing more than to make sure that Texas A&M is as rich in history and tradition hundreds of years from now as it is today.  I am the head of the Campus Relations committee for 2009-2010 and could not be more excited about the year that lies ahead.  Being able to experience Silver Taps, my favorite tradition, through the role of the Campus Relations committee has brought a new meaning to the ceremony and the support of the Aggie Family never ceases to amaze me.

Public Relations Sub-Chair: Jared Thompson, 2010

Howdy!  My name is Jared Thompson and this year I am the head of the Public Relations Committee.  I am a proud member of the Fightin' Texas Aggie Class of 2010 and am a three year member of Traditions Council.  I am from Parker, Colorado but instantly fell in love with Texas A&M University after my first visit.  I think that this is the most amazing and unique University in the entire world and I absolutely love everything about it.  My favorite traditions are Midnight Yell and Aggie Muster because I think they are the best showing of the Aggie Spirit in two very unique ways.  I joined Traditions Council because keeping traditions alive and thriving at Texas A&M is my passion.  I think that they make us the most unique and amazing University in the world and keep us connnected to our past in a way that no other school shares.  Joining Traditions Council is the best decision I have made in college and I know it will be a great decision for you too!

Outreach/Awareness Sub-Chair: Brent Broussard, 2010

Howdy! My name is Brent Broussard and I am a senior finance major from Katy, Texas. I joined Traditions Council my sophomore year and I can honestly say it was one of the best decisions I made during my college career. In between all the friends, experiences, and memories I have made during my time with Traditions Council, I also know that I had opportunities to make a difference at this University through this unique organization. Whether it was by sharing my passion for Texas A&M with fellow or prospective students, or hosting a family for Silver Taps, I was able to give back to the University that has given me so much. If that’s what you are looking for in a student organization, Traditions Council might be a great fit.

Service/Bonfire Sub-Chair: Lauren Chapa, 2011

Howdy! My name is Lauren Chapa and I am excited to be the head of the Service/ Bonfire Sub-Committee for the 2009-2010 school year.  I am a Communication major from San Antonio, Texas and I am a proud member of the fightin’ Texas Aggie class of 2011!  I fell in love with Texas A&M the first time I visited campus.  There were several reasons for this: a great atmosphere, friendly people, but most of all, the traditions.  My favorite tradition is Muster because it is a beautiful display of once an Aggie, always an Aggie. The traditions of Texas A&M make it a unique place unlike any other university.  These traditions unite Aggies everywhere and create a true sense of family.  That is exactly why I joined Traditions Council.  If you love Aggie traditions, I encourage you to join as well.  This is a great way to have an active role in preserving and promoting the wonderful traditions of Texas A&M University.

Sub Committees

Public Relations

Public Relations committee is the face of the organization.  We are involved in the promotion of the Council and play a key role in several events that are put on throughout the year.  In the fall we plan, organize and run Texas A&M's Birthday, Senior Bootline while simultaneously working with the Batallion and Athletic Department throughout the semester.  In the spring we host Run For the Ring, a 5k Run in which we raise money towards ring endowments for Aggies who cannot afford to buy their Aggie Ring.

Outreach & Awareness

The Outreach & Awareness committee does a lot of work behind the scenes to plan and coordinate speaking engagements for various audiences. Some of the groups we speak to include student organizations, Aggie Moms clubs, and faculty fish camps to help spread the great traditions at Texas A&M. We also spend time throughout the year in Cushing Library researching and verifying the history of Aggie traditions for Traditions Council.

Campus Relations

Campus Relations is the heart and soul of Traditions Council. The committee's main responsibility throughout the year is the facilitation of Silver Taps. We have the honor and privelege of hosting the families of the Aggies being honored at Silver Taps each month.  In addition to this we focus on the promotion of the ceremony by increasing the awareness around campus.

Service & Bonfire

Service & Bonfire is the charitable arm of Traditions Council.  We focus on bringing the committee together through several outreach projects we run throughout the year.  Most importantly we focus on Bonfire and Bonfire Remembrance week in the fall.  This is especially true since this year is the 10 year anniversary of the Bonfire collapse and the 100 year anniversary of the first On-Campus Bonfire.
